It’s closing in on the end of August and we are hitting the ground running! Here at EMBRACE, we could not be more excited for this school year to begin! Our first cycle of grants is in full effect in ten schools in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. We are providing eight schools with funds to hire Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers, Gifted Teachers, and a Speech and Language Pathologist. In addition to that, two other schools have purchased curriculum to use in their buildings to continue to help EMBRACE all learners!
We have an exciting upcoming event we would love for you to add on your calendar. Save the date for Sunday, September 30th! We are having our first annual Race to EMBRACE at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park! Don’t worry if you are not in top physical shape, this is not your typical race. We are partnering with a local organization, C.H.A.S.E. (Community Help for Autism Spectrum Everywhere), to bring an awareness and better understanding of how it feels to have different exceptionalities. The C.H.A.S.E. Sensorium is a collection of interactive stations and fun activities designed to educate people of all ages about sensory challenges that often co-exist with an autism diagnosis and other intellectual or physical disabilities. Registration for this event will begin September 1 on our website.
Lastly, we will be launching our EMBRACE All Learners campaign this fall! Our mission is to provide children with special needs the opportunity for an inclusive education by providing the resources to support these children in their home parish schools. Your support can impact how parish schools welcome, include, teach and EMBRACE students with exceptionalities. We are so very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit many of the schools in our Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and witness firsthand the incredible things that administrators, teachers, parents and students are doing every day to EMBRACE All Learners!
